Research Topic

Molecular taxonomy of medulloblastoma based on genomic profiling
Research Description
My dissertation research involves studying medulloblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor in children. The major goals are two-fold. First, I will apply the SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) arrays to examine the clinical samples of medulloblastoma, along with matched controls. Combined with the expression array analysis of medulloblastoma, the SNP arrays will help to identify prognostic markers as a collaborating effort with the Children's Oncology Group for the diagnosis and treatment of medulloblastoma. Second, based on the microarray analysis, I will pinpoint genes that are possibly involved in the genetic and biochemical signaling pathways of medulloblastoma tumorigenesis. Subsequently, functional studies of those genes will be carried out both in vitro and in vivo.
